Statement by Iceland (no 29 of 57)
Mr. President,
Iceland welcomes the delegation of Andorra and its national report.
In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iceland recommends the following:
- Adopt a comprehensive multi-year strategy to prevent and address gender-based violence.
- Decriminalize abortion in all circumstances and remove legal, administrative and practical barriers to accessing safe abortion services.
- Ensure access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services.
- Guarantee non-discriminatory access to assisted reproduction for all women, regardless of infertility or marital status.
- Include a gender perspective into disability legislation and policies.
- Respect intersex children’s right to self-determination and bodily autonomy and ban medically unnecessary surgeries.
- Establish a regulatory framework to effectively combat hate speech targeted at persons of diverse SOGIESC, including online, and ensure disaggregated data collection on related cases.
I wish Andorra all success for its review.
I thank you.
