Statement by Iceland (no 29 of 57)

Mr. President,

Iceland welcomes the delegation of Andorra and its national report.

In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iceland recommends the following:

1. Adopt a comprehensive multi-year strategy to prevent and address gender-based violence.
2. Decriminalize abortion in all circumstances and remove legal, administrative and practical barriers to accessing safe abortion services.
3. Ensure access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services.
4. Guarantee non-discriminatory access to assisted reproduction for all women, regardless of infertility or marital status.
5. Include a gender perspective into disability legislation and policies.
6. Respect intersex children’s right to self-determination and bodily autonomy and ban medically unnecessary surgeries.
7. Establish a regulatory framework to effectively combat hate speech targeted at persons of diverse SOGIESC, including online, and ensure disaggregated data collection on related cases.
