Mr. Vice-President,

Iceland welcomes the delegation of Nauru and its national report.

In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iceland recommends the following:

1. Ratify the Second Optional Protocol of the ICCPR.
2. Decriminalize and legalize abortion.
3. Eradicate child marriage.
4. Strengthen existing legal frameworks to prevent and respond to GBV.
5. Ensure access to comprehensive sexuality education in and out of school settings.
6. Adopt comprehensive anti-discrimination legislation that explicitly prohibits discrimination against persons of diverse SOGIESC.
7. Legalize same-sex marriage between consenting adults.
